San Francisco, toll charges, congestion charge, traffic

OK, let's see all hands for those of you who travel to San Francisco and think charging visitors
and commuters an additional charge for traveling in the city is a good idea?

San Francisco transportation planners are looking at various scenarios, such as charging motorists at the major entry points to the city - the Bay Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge and the freeways to the south; or charging people who drive into the Civic Center, downtown and South of Market - job centers where traffic is heaviest.

I was born in the city, and used to enjoy visiting and performing there, but have avoided it in the past five or so years as the cost to me has become exorbitant. I enjoyed seeing shows and eating at the famous restaurants, but when you add the cost of commuting and parking there to the cost of dinner and a show, the overall hassle and now another fee on top of that! These planners are going to really kill the tourist industry
in their city. These are people who are out of touch with the average commuter. It would be a different story if we had an effective transit system
throughout the Bay Area, but at this time that is not the case. I worry about those who work 'the boards', as their roles are few and far between, with little if any pay, as now not only will their costs involved to travel to their jobs increase, but there is bound to be less demand.
