The agency created 100,000 last year-30% of the city's total new jobs. They are not only responsible for creating jobs, but also retaining existing ones.

Harry Mavrogenes, executive director of San Jose's Redevelopment Agency calls redevelopment
'self-funding'.

Good new for our city.

$700M in federal funds have been set aside to assist foreclosure prevention in California.

Among the highlights,

  1. Assistance with past due-payments
  2. Subsidy for unemployed homeowners to assist with mortgage payments
Assistance for short sale sellers and died-in-lieu of foreclosure sellers
Mortgage principal reduction for borrowers seriously underwater

There are no details at this point on the last issue, but they will target
only homeowner's first mortgage (i.e., purchase money loans) and
only owner-occupied homes.

All aspects of the program are expected to be available no later than
Nov.1, possibly too late for some homeowners.

Program details can be found at www.keepyourhomecalifornia.com

Yes, you read that right; some homeowners are actually increasing their initial listing price
weeks, even months after being on the market.

Now if they had made any improvements to the home in that time, this would be
warranted, but none of these listings that I have seen noted or drew attention to
this possibility. Any major repairs and improvements should really be made prior to the home
being put on the market, and a good Realtor would have covered this in their listing presentation.

I have yet to see these homes move any faster after increasing their listing price.
Maybe they are in a panic because they are seeing other homes in their neighborhood
being listed for more, and they want to catch the wave. Wrong! They have in effect
only shot themselves in the foot. Or can someone explain this to me? Haven't we
learned from our previous mistakes? These homeowners are either not listening
to their agents, or receiving bad advice .

I never thought I'd like this show, but I love it! It wonderfully blends old song and dance, new song and dance,
dark comedy, high school clicks and more!
